My husband’s an ambo, I’m a midwife on call. We have no option for working from home. We have no PPE unless dealing with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
Because we will be having contact with people outside the home we are advised we need to distance from our own children. Thats 2m away from your own kids. Now mine are teenagers, but being told that I can’t hug them for a month was heartbreaking. It reduced me to tears - sure I’ve been up all night at a birth and been fielding panicked questions from pregnant mums all day so I’m a tad emotional - but that’s hard!
PLEASE, PLEASE take the guidelines seriously so this is over as fast as possible and those of us in emergency care can hug our kids again. Staying home is not that hard, actually it’s a luxury.
